Parks across Beijing have organized 109 cultural events to enhance the festive spirit during the ongoing eight-day Spring Festival holiday, as reported by the Beijing Municipal Forestry and Parks Bureau on Tuesday.
This year, coinciding with the Year of the Dragon or the Year of the Loong, the Beijing Zoo has set up a zodiac exhibition spanning 170 square meters, attracting families and visitors.
Folk arts have been a major hit this holiday season, with over 15 parks in Beijing, including iconic locations like the Temple of Heaven and Beihai Park, offering activities such as calligraphy, lantern-making, and sugar-figurine blowing to entertain guests. Ma Hong, the head of the bureau’s park administration office, highlighted the popularity of these traditional activities.
During the Spring Festival holiday, Beijing has seen a surge in tourism, with parks welcoming over 1.52 million visitors on Tuesday, the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, marking a significant 119.45% increase compared to the previous year, according to official figures.
The Chinese Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, holds great cultural significance in China and fell on February 10th this year.
