Suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu has been granted bail after being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for an alleged N585 million cash transfer scandal within her ministry.
She is to report to the EFCC daily after visiting their office on Tuesday.
President Bola Tinubu had suspended her pending the conclusion of the investigation into the alleged crime.
Betta Edu is accused of transferring N585 million meant for humanitarian activities into a private account.
In a related development, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs under former President Muhammadu Buhari, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, was also released on bail after being detained at the EFCC’s headquarters in Abuja.
She has been directed to report to the EFCC’s office daily for questioning regarding alleged financial misappropriations during her tenure as Minister.
