The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called for an urgent security meeting in response to the deteriorating security conditions in the nation’s capital.
The meeting comes days after several residents kidnapped in the Bwari Area Council of the FCT were killed by kidnappers due to their inability to meet the ransom payment deadline.
Wike, speaking at the ongoing meeting, reassured FCT residents that their safety is ensured.
He stated that the government was committed to providing security agents with everything they require to address insecurity.
The meeting was attended by leaders of security agencies in the FCT, senior officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), council chairmen, and traditional rulers.
Wike cautioned the area council chairmen to fulfil their duties at the grassroots level.
He emphasized the importance of the security apparatus rethinking its strategies and intensifying its efforts to combat insecurity in the region.
