Diplomatic reporter, Raphael Oni says China is committed to fostering international cooperation and capacity building as a response to global challenges.
He disclosed this at a seminar on “Global Opportunities in Deepening China’s Reform in the New Era,” organized by China Media Group (CMG) and held at the China Cultural Center in Abuja on Thursday.
Oni, a seasoned journalist with over 15 years of experience, emphasized that China has been instrumental in helping nations, particularly Nigeria, enhance their human capital since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1971.

The journalist shared his insights on the transformative power of international cooperation. He emphasized the impact of Chinese training programs, scholarships, and collaborations on the skills and knowledge of Nigerians across various sectors, including agriculture, technology, education, and healthcare.
Oni urged his colleagues in the media to highlight the successes of the China-Nigeria collaboration, stating, “Let us continue to promote greater understanding and cooperation between our nations.” He called for collective efforts to address pressing global issues like climate change, poverty, and political conflicts, advocating for a long-term perspective that prioritizes education and sustainable development.
Referencing President Xi Jinping’s vision of a global community with a shared future, Oni articulated China’s commitment to multilateralism and cooperation.
“This proposal reveals that China aims to promote sustainable development and cultural exchange on a global scale,” he said.
Oni highlighted China’s infrastructure development projects in Nigeria, including railways, roads, airports, and power generation, which are vital for economic growth and creating a conducive environment for development.
He noted that China-Nigeria relations are characterized by mutual benefit, emphasizing that China’s support in various sectors is pivotal for Nigeria’s economic development.
“Through programs such as scholarships, training workshops, and infrastructure development, China is helping to build the capacity of Nigerians and strengthen bilateral relations,” Mr Oni added.
