In its bid to strengthen trade relations and people-to-people cooperation, top officials from the Jilin Provincial People’s Congress on Thursday, December 14, paid a courtesy visit to the executive governor of Niger State Nigeria, His Excellency, Umar Muhammed Bago.
Mr Fan Ruiping, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Jilin Provincial People’s Congress, led the Chinese delegation to the engagement. Other members of his team include Liu Naijun, Deputy Director General of Department of Commerce of Jilin Province; Zhang Dianfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of Jilin Agricultural University; Li Jianhua, Deputy Director General of Foreign Affairs Office of Jilin Province; Liu Zhijian, Division Chief of Foreign Affairs Office of Jilin Province, Wang Fang, Director of High tech products import and export Division of Department of Commerce Jilin Province; Yang Jian, Deputy General Manager of South Africa Company of China FAW Import and Export Company Limited; and Chen Yin, General Manager of International Marketing Center of Dirui Medical Technology Company Limited. Cui Gwangzhen, Director-General of the China General Chamber of Commerce, was also part of the exchange.
Governor Umar Bago led the Niger state team to the meeting accompanied by state commissioners of finance, internal revenue and other top government officials.
Speaking on the purpose of the visit, Mr Fan Ruiping said his delegation is in Nigeria to discuss ways of exploring trade and economic partnership with the Niger state government, especially in sectors such as agriculture, automobiles, education, tourism, health and manufacturing.
Mr Fan stated that Jilin is the first province in China to achieve agricultural transformation, adding that the province is willing to share its experience with other countries for the mutual benefit of both parties.
The Vice Chairman invited the Niger state governor to visit Jilin Province and explore ways of economic and trade cooperation between the two states.
In his remarks, the Niger state governor, Umar Muhammed Bago, said the visit by the Jilin delegation came at a time when the state is open to collaboration with other states across the world. He said Niger State is rich in human and natural resources such as landmass, water, lithium, gold, aluminium and copper.
He said the state is willing to partner with Jilin Province in agriculture, automobiles and healthcare to stimulate the economy of the state. The governor promised to set up and chair the committee to facilitate a working visit to Jilin province.
Jilin and Niger are strategic states in China and Nigeria, and this mutual exchange serves as an opportunity for the advancement of trade, commerce and people-to-people cooperation. The China General Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria is willing to serve as a link for the actualization of this great partnership.
