Chinese Vice President Han Zheng said on Sunday that China is ready to work with the United States to push for the steady, sound and sustainable development of bilateral ties.
Han made the remarks during a meeting with U.S. Vice President-elect J.D. Vance.
Han is in Washington, D.C. to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special representative at the invitation of the U.S. side.
During the meeting, Han first conveyed President Xi’s greetings to Trump and extended congratulations to Vance on his election.

As long as the two sides follow the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, they will be able to help each other succeed, bring benefits to both countries, and make important contributions to world peace and development, he said.
Regarding the economic and trade relationship, a key issue of mutual interest, Han acknowledged that despite some disagreements and frictions, China and the U.S. share enormous common interests and have vast potential for cooperation. He urged both sides to strengthen dialogue and consultations on this matter.
Vance, for his part, asked Han to convey President-elect Trump’s cordial greetings to President Xi, and said the two leaders had a good conversation on the important issues in the bilateral relationship during the recent phone call.
The economic and trade relationship is very important to both the U.S. and China, said Vance.
