On Thursday, July 14, leading Chinese automobile company, FAW Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mutual Commitment Company Nigeria Limited (MCC) for the purchase and supply of 1,000 trucks, an initiative aimed at increasing brand awareness, market sales and profitability of both enterprises.
The ceremony which took place in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, also witnessed the launch of Mutual Commitment Group (MCG) Logistics Centre, a facility built to streamline and optimize the company’s distribution process.
Present at the ceremony was a delegation of the Standing Committee of the Jilin Provincial People’s Congress, led by Vice Chairman, Mr Fan Ruiping; Cui Gwanzghen, Director-General of the China General Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria, Zalong Liu, General Managing Director of MCG Group; Allen Lee, FAW representative in Nigeria; Johnson Zhu, Managing Director Sales of MCC Group; business leaders, staff of both companies, and Nigerian friends.
In his welcome address, Zalong Liu, General Managing Director of MCG Group, said the Memorandum of Understanding will lead to the creation of over 1,000 direct jobs and employment of 1,000 drivers, stimulate other employment opportunities and promote related industries.
Mr Liu said the new logistics company will directly manage more than 10,000 vehicles in the future and enhance the efficiency, productivity and revenue of MCG Group.
Also speaking, FAW representative in Nigeria, Allen Lee, said FAW Group, an indigenous Jilin enterprise, has offices in Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea and Senegal, with plans to expand to other African countries.
While thanking the Jilin Provincial delegation for honouring the event with their presence, Mr Lee pledged the determination of the FAW group to improve its efficiency in line with President Xi’s Belt and Road Initiative.
A major highlight of the event was the formal signing of the MoU by representatives of FAW and MCC Groups and the groundbreaking ceremony of the MCG Logistics Centre.
The MoU signed by both companies represents a significant milestone in collaboration among Chinese enterprises in Nigeria.
The China General Chamber of Commerce will continue to support initiatives that will lead to the growth and profitability of Chinese firms in Nigeria.
