As part of its cooperate social responsibility, Chinese heavy-duty equipment manufacturer, Sany Group has donated books, bags, sporting items and other instructional materials to Rahama School, Suleja, Niger State.

Mason Zou, Managing Director of the company donated the items at a ceremony held at the school premises on Thursday.

In his remarks, Mr Zou said the donation is part of Sany’s contribution to the educational advancement of Nigeria and as a way of appreciating Mr Shi, head of the Chinese Corner for his dedication to the teaching of Chinese language and culture in the school.

He pledged the willingness of the company to extend the gesture to other schools when the need arises.

“When the school told us they need some items for the students, we didn’t hesitate because of our desire to contribute to the development of the young students who are the leaders of tomorrow. Also, our Chinese teacher has been here teaching Chinese language to the students.

“For Sany Group, we are a very big company in China and Corporate Social Responsibility is part of our programs and we shall be willing to assist other schools with gift items in the future.”

Earlier in her welcome address, proprietress of the school, Ramatu Auwal Ibrahim thanked Sany Group for the items and promised to make judicious use of them.

She appreciated the Chinese Embassy for establishing the Chinese Corner in the school, thereby providing an avenue for the teaching and learning of Chinese language and the active participation of students in events organized by the embassy.

The proprietress stated that Rahama, which is the only private school in Nigeria to have a Chinese Corner has won several awards in competitions organized for schools by the Chinese Embassy.

“Rahama School has been in existence since September 1984 and the Chinese Corner was established in May 2015. Since its establishment, the Corner has been actively participating in every activity organized by the Chinese embassy. It has been active in terms of the teaching of Chinese language, songs, dances, paper cutting and other cultural and educational exchanges. The corner has won several prizes in the China-Nigeria Cultural Fiesta and Chinese Ambassador drawing competition. Items like generator sets and medical equipment have been donated by the embassy to the school. The school also won prizes at the just concluded Chinese Dance competition.

“Furthermore, I would like to use this medium to express our gratitude to the Chinese embassy and to the Cultural Chancellor, Mr Li Xuda for ensuring that a Chinese teacher is always posted to our school since the inception of the corner. We are proud to say that Rahama is the only private school in Nigeria that has a Chinese corner and a Chinese teacher.

“Our appreciation also goes to the Sany group headed by the Managing Director for these donations. We remain eternally grateful for your gesture towards promoting education in our school. Your good deeds will be remembered in the annals of history.”

Cultural Chancellor, Li Xuda who represented the Embassy at the event thanked Sany Group for the gesture and pledged the commitment of the Chinese government in promoting friendship with Nigeria.

“I want to thank Sany Group for this donation. These gifts are a demonstration of the corporate social responsibility of the company towards the educational development of our students.

“The teaching and instructional materials will provide a better teaching and learning environment for our students. The sporting items provided will also help the students stay fit while chasing their dreams. This is a demonstration of the good relationship between China and Nigeria.

“I want to use this opportunity to congratulate Rahama School for always excelling in the Embassy’s competitions. The Chinese Corner of this school won great prizes in the drawing and dancing competitions organized by the embassy.

“This school is the only private school in Nigeria, to have a Chinese corner and an indigenous Chinese teacher. I urge the management of the school to make use of this opportunity. I urge all students here present to become good ambassadors of both China and Nigeria,” he said.
