China’s flagship import-themed trade fair, the 8th CIIE, is set to take place from November 5 to November 10, 2025, at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (Shanghai) (NECC) in Shanghai’s Qingpu District.

Here are the key highlights:

Venue & Dates

Venue: NECC Shanghai, 333 Songze Avenue, Qingpu District, Shanghai.
Date: November 5 – 10, 2025

Scale & Participation

-Exhibition space has exceeded 430,000 m², setting a new record for the event.
-Over 155 countries, regions and international organisations are participating, with more than 4,100 overseas companies exhibiting.
-Some 290 of the Fortune Global 500 companies and industry-leading enterprises will be present.
-U.S. enterprises will, for the seventh consecutive year, capture the largest exhibition area among overseas participants.

Exhibition Sectors & Feature Zones

The 2025 CIIE will cover six major sectors:

-Medical Equipment & Healthcare Products
-Automobile & Smart Mobility
-Intelligent Industry & Information Technology
-Consumer Goods
-Food & Agricultural Products
-Trade in Services

In addition, a special Innovation Incubation zone will highlight start-ups and frontier technologies.

Highlights for Global & African Businesses

-The CIIE is specifically expanding its “Africa Product Zone”, offering greater access for African companies seeking entry into the Chinese market.
-Customs, visa and logistics facilitations have been enhanced to support smoother participation by overseas exhibitors and visitors.

Estimated Trade Transactions

-At the 7th edition of the CIIE (2024), the value of intended deals exceeded US $80 billion, representing a 2 % year-on-year rise.

-The 2025 edition is anticipated to match or exceed this benchmark, underlining the expo’s role as a global procurement and trade platform.

What to Watch

-Debuts of new technologies and products, including low-altitude economy solutions and smart health applications.
-Deals and partnerships signed during the expo may set the tone for trade relations into 2026.
-Practical facilitation measures (customs, logistics, bonded zones) that might ease African-China trade flows for the remainder of the year.

In Summary

The 8th CIIE is more than just a show-case—it is a strategic platform for global firms, including those from Nigeria and Africa, to access China’s massive consumer and industrial market, build networks, and align with China’s evolving policy of ‘opening up’. Nigeria’s businesses, trade associations and policymakers should monitor the event closely for opportunities and collaboration pathways.
