Shanghai Disney Resort is set to introduce another uniquely themed attraction within Shanghai Disneyland, as announced in a news release on Monday. Situated next to the newly opened Zootopia area, the new attraction is currently in the initial stages of preparation for construction. Although no specific details were provided in the news release.
Simultaneously, the resort provided an update on the progress of the third Disney-themed hotel located on the shores of Wishing Star Lake within the resort. The piling work for the 400-room hotel has been finished, clearing the path for the commencement of superstructure works.
The construction of the hotel officially began in August 2023, when leaders from the resort’s joint venture shareholders initiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the lakefront facility.
Since its opening in June 2016, Shanghai Disney Resort has expanded with the addition of Disney·Pixar Toy Story Land in April 2018, and a second new themed land, Zootopia, in December 2023. The latest expansion plans demonstrate the resort’s dedication to offering new experiences and evolving into a multi-day tourism destination for guests from both near and far, as stated in the news release.
