In recent years, Guangxi has been actively pursuing ocean-oriented development opportunities and promoting open development, to drive high-quality growth in its border regions with large ethnic minority populations.
Guangxi has focused on leveraging cross-regional industrial collaborations to target the ASEAN market. Since 2021, the region has introduced more than 160 leading enterprises. It has also engaged in cross-regional industrial division and coordination with the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
These efforts have effectively strengthened and supplemented regional industrial chains in key sectors such as new energy vehicles, power batteries, and fine chemicals, accelerating the development of new quality productive forces.
“Guangxi’s ocean-oriented development strategy has opened up new pathways for the region’s high-quality growth,” said Zhang Wei, a local economist. “By tapping into the ASEAN market and integrating with national-level development initiatives, Guangxi has been able to drive the industrial upgrading and innovation of its border areas.”
The region’s active pursuit of open development has also enabled it to attract significant investment and talent from across China. This has contributed to the flourishing of new industries and the creation of more job opportunities for local residents, including those from ethnic minority communities.
Looking ahead, Guangxi is poised to continue leveraging its strategic location and diverse economic resources to further accelerate its ocean-oriented development and bring about more inclusive growth in its border regions.
