Energy China-Nigeria Dancing Competition Concludes with Spectacular Performances

The final and closing ceremony of the Energy China-Nigeria Dancing Competition took place on Wednesday at the China Cultural Center in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.

Co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, China Cultural Center in Nigeria, and the China General Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria (CGCCNIG), and sponsored by China Energy International Group (CEIG) Company Limited, the competition was attended by over 200 people, including Li Xuda, Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, Li Baisheng, Managing Director of China Energy International Group Limited, James Sule, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Cui Guangzhen, Director-General of the CGCCNIG, heads of major Chinese companies in Nigeria, contestants, and many music and dance enthusiasts.

In his remarks, Li Baisheng, the Managing Director of Energy China, stated that the company is committed to promoting economic, trade, and cultural exchanges and cooperation between Nigeria and China, with the goal of “sharing Chinese Harmony and performing Nigeria-China Symphony of friendship with Nigerian people.” He commended the organizers, judges, participants, and all those who supported China-Nigerian cultural exchanges for their hard work and dedication.

Also speaking, Li Xuda, Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria said dance is the easiest language to communicate in the world because it has a unique power that can go beyond political, religious, and cultural boundaries, and plays an important role in multinational cultural exchanges.

Earlier in his remarks, James Sule, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, assured the Chinese Embassy of the Nigerian government’s unwavering support in fostering cooperation and collaboration between the two countries. He stressed the ministry’s commitment to working hand in hand with China to develop joint projects that showcase the unique narratives of the two nations and create a platform for mutual understanding and friendship.

The competition featured breathtaking dance performances, with Wang Ao emerging as the winner in the Chinese category, Wu Jiacheng coming second, and Huang Lingxia and the Energy China Dance Group placing third.

In the Nigerian category, Drum Major for Peace won, Firmsteps Dance Crew came second, and Adexy Joe and Joseph Uhiene came third.

Sinoma Nigeria Limited won the Best Collaboration award, Chi Si hea won the Best Creativity award, and Ai Le Yong and Dong mei received the Best Popularity award.

Prizes and cash awards were distributed to deserving winners and other participant in the spirit of sportsmanship.
