Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, on Thursday met with Nigeria’s Minister of Power-Designate and Director-General of the Nigeria-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Joseph Tegbe, to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation in power, infrastructure and other key sectors.
During the meeting, Ambassador Yu congratulated Tegbe on his appointment as Minister of Electricity and commended his contributions to advancing China-Nigeria relations through his role in the Nigeria-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The ambassador reiterated China’s readiness to work closely with Nigeria in implementing the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and the agreements reached by the leaders of both countries.
He noted that both nations should continue to deepen collaboration in infrastructure, power and energy development, with a view to promoting the high-quality growth of the China-Nigeria Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and delivering greater benefits to their peoples.
Tegbe, in his remarks, reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its ties with China and expressed appreciation for China’s longstanding support for the country’s economic and social development.
The minister pledged to enhance engagement with the Chinese Embassy and relevant Chinese institutions to advance practical cooperation in strategic sectors, particularly power infrastructure, industrial manufacturing and modern agriculture.
According to him, deeper collaboration between Nigeria and China will not only support Nigeria’s development objectives but also contribute to broader China-Africa efforts aimed at advancing modernization and sustainable growth.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both countries to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation and translating diplomatic engagements into tangible development outcomes.
