Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has emphasized the significant role of the China-Nigeria Business Exchange summit in facilitating increased trade and investment between the two countries.
He made these remarks while speaking at the China-Nigeria Business Exchange summit in Beijing, China, as part of his week-long working visit to the world’s second-largest economy.
The event, jointly organized by the Nigerian Embassy in China and the Chinese firm Yingke Law Firm, aimed to facilitate increased bilateral trade and investment, as well as foster valuable business matchmaking opportunities.
In his address, Minister Tuggar highlighted the longstanding and critical relationship between Nigeria and China, noting that such business exchange platforms play a crucial role in driving economic growth and diversification for both nations.
“The China-Nigeria Business Exchange summit presents a valuable opportunity to deepen the already strong ties between our countries and unlock new avenues for mutually beneficial trade and investment,” Tuggar said.
Over 200 Chinese companies participating and showcasing a keen interest in exploring collaboration opportunities with Nigerian businesses.
Minister Tuggar is also expected to participate in the Nigeria-China Intergovernmental Committee meeting and the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian.
Tuggar’s visit, which runs from June 19th to 26th, comes at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The Nigerian delegation accompanying the minister includes government officials and prominent business leaders.
Nigeria and China have enjoyed 53 years of diplomatic relations, built on the principle of win-win cooperation and mutual respect.
