In a significant move to ramp up production for Apple’s highly anticipated iPhone 16, Foxconn, the world’s premier electronics manufacturer, has announced the hiring of approximately 50,000 workers at its Zhengzhou factory. This recruitment drive is part of the company’s annual preparation for the upcoming launch, which typically sees mass hiring begin in July.

On Tuesday, a steady stream of coaches filled with new employees arrived at the Foxconn Zhengzhou Science and Technology Park, located in the capital city of Henan Province. This factory, established in 2010, is Foxconn’s largest manufacturing site and has consistently played a crucial role in the production of Apple products.

Sources from Xinhua revealed that the factory’s hiring spree is expected to continue in the coming months, with many of this year’s recruits being returnees lured back by attractive bonuses for those who commit to staying for over three months. This trend underscores the factory’s stable annual labor demands, which have remained consistent in recent years.

The Zhengzhou facility has seen its output values reach new heights in 2023, reflecting ongoing growth and a robust operational framework. The factory is not only pivotal for iPhone assembly but is also a cornerstone of Foxconn’s expansion strategy in Henan. In July, the company signed a deal with the provincial government to establish a new business headquarters in Zhengzhou, alongside projects focused on new energy vehicles and storage batteries.
