39 days to the 2023 general elections, eight former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State House of Assembly aspirants on Tuesday officially defected to the main opposition, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This development was made known in a statement issued by the state APC Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris.
The former aspirants announced their defection after a meeting with Governor Bello Matawalle on Tuesday, 17th January 2023 in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.
They are Kasimu Jafaru from Zurmi west constituency, Rukkayya Abdullahi from Zurmi east constituency, Isah Ibrahim-Labbo from Anka constituency, and Abubakar Abdulaziz, from Tsafe east constituency.
Others are Bala Ibrahim and Jamilu Bawa from Birnin Magaji state assembly constituencies, Ibrahim Surajo from Zurmi west, and the leader of the defecting team, Murtala Mainasara from Shinkafi constituency. 
Receiving the fresh defectors, Governor Matawalle said the ruling APC was a party for all reasonable and patriotic Nigerians who crave all-round development
